This Olympus D-510 was my first ever camera! Originally my dad's, he handed it down to me when he upgraded to an 8MP Sony Cyber-shot. Over time though, I ended up forgetting about it and moved on to more feature-rich cameras as my interest in photography developed. However, I recently rediscovered this camera while sorting through some stuff at my parents' house, decided to give it another try, and its image quality totally surprised me! It looks way better than you'd expect from a basic little point-and-shoot from 2001. Deep and saturated colors, surprisingly good dynamic range, and a lens that's sharp across the entire zoom range with basically no distortion or chromatic aberration - definitely a hidden gem!
Feature-wise, this is a pretty standard early 2000s point-and-shoot. It's got an average optical tunnel viewfinder (I've never been a fan of these), a small LCD for live view and reviewing shots (mine has suffered some damage but is still otherwise functional), a decent power zoom range, and that's about it. The only exposure mode available is full auto, but it at least offers spot metering, manual control over ISO (100-400) and white balance, and sharpness and contrast adjustments.
I usually try to keep the original straps and accessories with all my cameras but the wrist strap that came with this camera was painfully boring, so I swapped it out for this super cute pink kandi wrist strap that I found at a craft show.
